At LOCALFOODSCENE, we take pride in delivering custom construction services tailored to your unique needs. Due to the personalized nature of our work — including house and cottage construction, renovations, and design services — traditional returns and exchanges do not apply in the same way they do for retail products.
However, we are committed to providing a fair and transparent process for resolving concerns, managing changes, and handling special circumstances.
1. Custom Services & Non-Returnable Items
All services provided by LOCALFOODSCENE are custom and project-based. This includes:
- House and cottage construction
- Renovation and remodeling services
- Custom design and architectural plans
- Site preparation and consulting
As such, services rendered and custom work performed are non-returnable and non-refundable once work has begun or materials have been ordered, unless otherwise stated in your service agreement.
2. Deposits and Payments
To begin work, a deposit is typically required as outlined in your contract. Please note:
- Deposits are non-refundable unless the project is canceled by LOCALFOODSCENE for reasons not related to client delays or changes.
- If a client chooses to cancel the project after work has commenced or materials have been purchased, refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and only for the unearned portion of the deposit, minus administrative and material costs.
3. Changes to Project Scope
We understand that plans can evolve. If you need to make changes to your project after work has started:
- Please notify us in writing as soon as possible.
- A change order will be created outlining any additional costs, timeline adjustments, or material changes.
- If materials were already ordered or custom items fabricated, those cannot be returned or exchanged.
4. Materials and Fixtures
If you have selected specific materials (e.g., tiles, countertops, appliances, or fixtures) through LOCALFOODSCENE:
- Many of these items are custom-ordered and non-returnable.
- We will inform you at the time of selection whether an item is eligible for return or exchange.
- If a return is possible, any restocking fees or return shipping costs will be the client’s responsibility.
- Damaged or defective items must be reported within 5 business days of delivery for a replacement or resolution.
5. Incorrect or Deficient Work
If you believe that work completed by LOCALFOODSCENE does not meet the agreed-upon specifications:
- Please notify us in writing within 10 business days of the relevant project milestone or completion.
- We will assess the issue and, where appropriate, repair or correct the work at no additional cost, in line with your service agreement and warranty terms.
6. Warranty Policy
Construction services may be covered under a limited workmanship warranty, as detailed in your signed contract. This warranty typically does not cover:
- Damage due to misuse, neglect, or external factors
- Natural wear and tear
- Unauthorized modifications or repairs
